1989

The birth of an idea

Strema’s story began in 1989, from a request that came almost by chance and a choice that would change everything. A French company, active in the catering sector, was looking for an Italian manufacturer capable of making sealing machines for containers of precooked meals. Taking up the challenge was Roberto Zamboni, with a strong background in the world of mechanics and industrial packaging.

At that time there were no dedicated structures, technical departments or a real business organization. There were, however, skills, curiosity and the will to turn an idea into something concrete. The first projects were born in an essential way, often in the evening and at night, turning domestic spaces into improvised design offices. It was a period of drawings, trial and error, intuition and a lot of passion.

The founding of Strema

In early 1990 came the most important decision: to leave the previous job and finally make room for the project that was growing.

Strema thus takes its first concrete steps starting from a garage, used as an improvised laboratory, where the first prototypes and technical solutions take shape, amid enthusiasm and inevitable uncertainties.

Soon, however, that space is no longer enough. The project grows, picks up pace, and finds its first real home in a small rented craft shed. It is here that the business really begins to breathe: the first collaborators arrive, the first equipment – often second-hand, salvaged and adapted – and above all, the first orders arrive. This is the moment when intuition becomes reality and the idea turns into a business.

2001 - 2009

New lines, new markets

The company expands its scope and offers lines to produce and package medical pads, cosmetic pads, and cosmetic discs.

Between 2001 and 2009 Strema goes through a phase of profound evolution, in which the experience accumulated in previous years is transformed into new development opportunities. It is a period of careful observation of the market, listening to emerging needs and making future-oriented design choices.

It was during this period that the first machinery for making medical pads, cosmetic pads and cosmetic pads, paving the way for new market segments and applications.

Guided by a vision that is always forward-looking, the company completes and consolidates its range of in-line packaging machines, reaching an important milestone: all items developed can now be packed in fully automatic mode. A result that improves efficiency, repeatability and reliability, meeting the needs of modern and increasingly structured production.
